Hyper-v VHD on VBox

Is there any way to add a Hyper-V Vhd to a VBox VM?

I have never succeeded in getting a Hyper-V .vhd to boot in VirtualBox or WVPC (although other people claim to have done it).

The only method that works for me is to use sysinternals disk2vhd to clone the drive (after removing the integration components).

Convertfromraw? A VHD is not a raw disk image.

All that convertfromraw does is take any old file you give it and wrap a VDI header around it, so of course it will "work". You can even mount the resulting drive in a VM and format it. What you can't do is access "the data", because unless you write your own sector level driver, you have nothing which can recognize the drive contents.

On a Windows host you should find the CloneVDI tool to be the easiest way to convert .VHD to .VDI, but note that converting the media may not make the contents VBox compatible.

Disk2VHD seems an odd choice for converting a disk image that's already in VHD format. I'm not aware of any variants of VHD that Hyper-v might be using which might be fixed by this procedure. ISTM this would just be an inefficient way of cloning the VHD. What the Hyper-V image might be doing is installing its equivalent of GAs, plus drivers for Hyper-v hardware. If so then neither of those issues would be fixed by Disk2VHD.
