vrdp not up [SOLVED]

Post by supremedalek »

I thought that if I wanted to have vrdp running in the PUEL (or the old commercial license), I could do something like

Code: Select all

VBoxManage modifyvm "server1" --vrdeport 12003 --vrde on --vrdeauthtype external
and would be able to see it is up and running:

Code: Select all

netstat -al | grep 1200
tcp 0 0 *:12003 *:* LISTEN
tcp 0 0 *:12006 *:* LISTEN
tcp 0 0 *:12007 *:* LISTEN
tcp 0 0 *:12008 *:* LISTEN
What would cause vrdp not to run on a given vm? What should I look for in the log file?

Did you install the extension pack? Is it only one guest that does not work properly or any of them?

You were right! I did not realize they moved the usb/vrdp support out of the main install package. I had to install through VirtualBox (as suggested in http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic. ... 13#p171509) but now I have it:

Code: Select all

tcp 0 0 *:12001 *:* LISTEN
Thanks!

On a side note, is there a way to install the extension pack through the command line?

See Chapter 8.34 VBoxManage extpack in your VirtualBox users manual.
