Before Oracle there used to be a commercial license in addition to the OSE and PUEL one. What happened to it? What happens with those who actually bought a few (8) of them?

No idea. Such sales questions should be asked to the Oracle sales department. And there have always been just two licenses: OSE and PUEL. You could acquire a 'commercial' license for the PUEL edition, that's all.

I did try asking them. Could not go much past the "but first, how many systems do you have? How many users? How many licenses do you plan on getting?" part of script. Do not know how that would affect or be relevant to my question but hey.

I remember those licenses were bought avoid legality issues of using PUEL in a non-personal/evaluation application.

Correct, that's where the 'commercial' PUEL comes from. You should have a registration of the license somewhere and it should say how long the license is valid and such.

It's strange though that you didn't mention or get a reaction after mentioning that you already have a commercial license.

Just wondering why do you need commercial license? What are you doing so special to need a commercial license? Maybe in v4.x has changed something that you don't need it anymore. Do you need professional support from Oracle?

Perhaps you were notified when I was (10-13-2010) and again on (11-05-2010) with final instructions on (11-18-2010) but thought it was spam.
However they sent out notification about how to update your account to their "My Oracle Support".
