It is quite embarrassing to say here that I don't know how to get my VM working.
I installed this to enable me use run programs I have that are ONLY compatible with XP.
Can someone out there, when you have the time, pull me by the hand and lead me through how to:
(a) get my XP guest gain access to my host (Windows 7) dvd/cd drive,
(b) be able to get things from Youtube play on it - the guest (XP),
(c) get the guest have usb devices attach to it. I HAVE READ THE POSTS HERE ON USB DEVICES, BUT NOTHING WORKED FOR ME.
These things seem to be too "technical" to me.
HELP me with step-by-step procedure.

Installed Flash plugin for the Guest browser? Then it will play. Oh, sound is a problem, well, I don't see any mention of VM settings or sound card, so I'm assuming you have none. Read the manual, a lot will be clear after that. And make sure the volume levels aren't on 0 and muted.

That is the problem - the User's Manual. The command string is not what I have any idea of. Where do I go to enter the commands? I was hoping someone would be kind enough (if they have the time) to give me the "PRACTICAL" steps. Like, from point a to point b, to point c, and ...
From the look of things, it does appear that this program is not for me.I thought there could be a way to just click some bottons (as when istalling the vm) and get the cd/dvd, audio connected. These are the only two things I need the vm for. Well, possibly, the usb devise too.
I wish there was a simpler way.

Commands? Command line required? What are you talking about? Everything can be done through the GUI, just some advanced stuff are only possible through CLI and you're not doing that (if you would, and don't know how to do it, I seriously doubt you should be doing them).
