HI everyone. I am new to linux and virtual box. I have set up ubuntu and fedora 14 on my virtual box (4.0.2) and both run fine enough.

The reason I specifically got fedora 14 was because i want to install a couple of bits of software which dont have vista 32 bit versions (the fedora i have installed on my vbox is fedora 64 bit).

Earlier today i downloaded one of the bits of software i wanted and tried to install it. I also bookmarked some websites. All seemed o.k, but I had to go to work so i powered off the virtual box and then shut down my pc. Tonight, on starting up my pc, loading vbox and booting up fedora, its as if i never did anything earlier. The downloads folder is empty, the install file on the desktop has disappeared, and the websites i bookmarked are no longer in the bookmarks list. Almost like fedora, or virtualbox, deleted my history. Is this typical? How do i go about configuring things so that when i create files or install software on fedora, they will still be there next time i boot up? Is this a vbox issue, or fedora issue?

Appreciate any help, got along way to go with this and am really out of my depth...

It seems you're new to Linux and the concept of live CD's. That's what you're running inside VB, it's a live environment that resets when the machine reboots. You have to install it to the hard drive to keep all the changes.
