Virtio-net only at 100Mbits. Why ?

I have a few vms all with a virtio adapter rather than a NIC, running on a headless server with 1000Mbits cards (bridged). Although the virtio "drivers" are supposed to be 1000Mbits, Windows XP reports them to work at 100Mbits only !

I have tried 2 different "branded" vitrio-net with same result, the latest from repo git://git.engineering.redhat.com/users/vrozenfe/internal-kvm-guest-drivers-windows/.git

Any hint to solve this ?
TIA

are you sure its not just a graphical error - even if they were reported as 1000mbits it doesn't mean they would run that fast, or that they would be limited to 100mbits if that's what it said.

they will run as fast as your cpu/disk can handle, as packets don't traverse the network from host->guest, i doubt even the physical nic's capabilities are relevant.

Then I don't know what your doing, I've been using these drivers for some time now and they all show and run at 1gb.

Neither am I..... or better I do nothing, that's just the way Host Ubuntu and Guest XP end up, when forcing network over Virtio. Using NIC emulation with a card known by the Host get 1Gbits :?
