Hi all,
not sure where to put this question, but thought here might be good. Tried to search the FAQ & forum for the answer but didn't find a clear answer...
What is the recommended way to convert a vdi to vmdk in order to run in VMware?
I found lots of ways on the web but don't know what really works...
Thanks!

Check the user manual, "VBoxManage clonehd --format VMDK".
That will change the media physical format. The media content will need to be migrated to the new virtual hardware.

thanks for your reply - I made the vmdk very easily..I should have checked the manual first!
What do you mean by migrating to new virtual hardware? How do I do this? Is it specific to the guest OS?

I mean that the Win7 image contains references (drivers etc) to [ simulated ] hardware, and the hardware simulated by the various VM platforms is not necessarily the same - and a Win7 image might be sensitive to the changes. The result of this sensitivity might be crashing on boot or just a request to reactivate. However this is just speculation: any actual problem you encounter with VMWare is something you should discuss on a VMWare forum.
