iPod mini and iTunes on Linux host

Post by tienhn »

Hi All,
Has any one successfully run iTunes 7.5 with iPod mini (or any iPod for that matter)?

I have read most the posts here and followed all the fixes, all of my USB devices including scanners works fine. Even the new MagicJack VOIP USB dongle works. But I can never get it to recognize the iPod device.

Should I just give up? :)

TIA.

What is your host distro and what is the guest OS operating system specifically? Also, can you paste the output of lsusb from the host?

Hi
I'm having the same problem using a iPOD like tienhn.
And just like he said everything works on the USB but the iPod Nano. I'm usind Debian Etch as host and Windows XP as guest.
Here is the lsusb output on my system.
Bus 005 Device 004: ID 05ac:120a Apple Computer, Inc.
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
As you can see only the iPod is attached.

The same for MS Activesync (pocket pc) and ( I have heard ) with blackberry, so it seems to be a problem of virtual box USB subsystem.
