I've been using remote desktop to access a Win7 box since I have only a very crappy monitor to use with it. After I installed VB on that box the Remote Access to that computer no longer works.
I get error message suggesting three reasons, none of which is true;
1) Remote access to the server is not enabled. (It is enabled--I never changed it.)
2) The remote computer is turned off. (Patently false since I see it running.)
3) The remote computer is not available on the network. (I can't ping it, but I can get to the internet from that computer.)

Re: Remote access not working after installing virtual box
It looks like one has to go into the Windows firewall and under "allow programs" one needs to click "Public" as well as "Home/work (Private)". Now it seems to be working for me.
Note: Nothing in the manual under 'firewall' except a passing mentin in the glossary under 'NAT', according to an Acrobat Reader search for 'firewall'. And the section on NAT doesn't say anything about firewall.
