Unable to install 32-bit Linux on 64-bit Real Time Kernel

Post by hansson_14 »

I have Ubuntustudio 64bit and I installed Virtualbox via Synaptic.
I started to create my first virtual machine (Xubuntu 32bit) but when I want to start install from an ISO file I get the following message in Virtualbox:

VirtualBox kernel driver not installed. The vboxdrv kernel module was either not loaded or /dev/vboxdrv was not created for some reason. Please install the virtualbox-ose-modules package for your kernel and execute '/etc/init.d/vboxdrv start' as root.
VBox status code: -1908 (VERR_VM_DRIVER_NOT_INSTALLED).

Resultatkod:

Komponent:
Console
Gränssnitt:
IConsole {1dea5c4b-0753-4193-b909-22330f64ec45}

Since I have Ubuntustudio I have kernel 2.6.22-14-rt
Anyone knows what could be the problem - and the solution?

Thanks in advance
Fredrik

SOLVED!

I uninstalled and then downloaded the AMD64 from VB and installed that one instead. Also, I had to put the users (root and me) in VB group via the Administration-->Users and groups tool. And then log out an log on again of course.
And now VB works!

Yes, the original package from the Ubuntu/Debian repository needs some additional work to create the appropriate kernel module.
