Zune HD (this device cannot start CODE 10)

Post by stoutrouge »

Hello,

I have a Linux Mint 10 host with a Windows 7 guest on Virtualbox 4.0.2. The problem is*(I tried this with windows xp so don't tell me to use a different os)* When I connect my Zune HD to my usb port. I am then greeted with a window in Linux Mint 10 saying that this is a zune and what do you want to do with it. I select do nothing and unmount it. I then start my virtual machine and select my Zune HD to connect with the virtual machine. It installs the drivers because I installed the Zune software and then I get this:Image
I searched all over this website and the darkest corners of the internet and I think I'm the only one that has a Zune HD with this problem.

Thanks in advance,
Stoutrouge

PS: I have also tried this with vmware. It does the same thing..

Best thing for you to do is put zune hd in virtualbox in a google search.
Have you tried a USB memory stick? does it work?

I have spent a total of 5 days searching google about my problem... This is my last resort. I have tried using a usb flash drive. It did the same thing.
I made sure that I unmounted it from the host.

Well you should not need to unmount it from the host, at least not the memory sticks, and this may be why it is not working.
(1) type id in a terminal (on the host) and make sure that your id has the vboxusers group (see your VirtualBox users manual)
(2) If you are using version 4.0.* of VirtualBox make sure you have installed the Extension Pack (on the host) How to install Extension Pack

If your not in the vboxusers group then do the following.
In a host terminal run this:

Code: Select all

sudo usermod -aG vboxusers <your username>
Replace <your username> with the name you use to log in. Type your user password when prompted.

Still no use. Done everything you told me. Also thanks you for helping me out. I thought no one will ever help me!
Edit: I plugged in the flash drive that I used to test a while ago. The flash drive worked.

Did you reboot the host? permission changes do not take effect until you logoff and services do not start until you reboot, unless you know how to modprobe the services.

Did you read everything and do everything that was discussed or just the last part about rebooting?

I am having the same issue as well. I have the vboxusers in my groups and I have the additions and extensions set up correctly...

I hope someone can help with this. I would really hate to lose my Zune HD or have to switch to Windows as my main platform just for an MP3 player. :x
