Updating Pre-Installed OSE GA's with PUEL GA's

This isn't a question as much as a request. There are a number of distros now that come with VirtualBox OSE guest additions pre-installed. I was wondering if someone could put together a How-To on the best way of removing the OSE additions and installing the PUEL additions. It seems in a number of cases, if you just remove the existing GA's and install the PUEL GA's, the guest doesn't seem to know about the new GA's and things like 3D acceleration aren't recognized. I've had issues with a few guests which still don't work completely because of this. I just did a fresh install of Sabayon 5.5 which came with the 3.2.12 GA's pre-installed and I would like to install the 4.0.2 additions but I don't want to screw anything up.
