VirtualBox won't install apps on guest Windows XP
I am running VirtualBox 4.0.2 on an Ubuntu host and a Windows XP guest. When I try to install WordPerfect from an installation disk, I get an error box which says "Install chaining application has encountered a problem and needs to close." At that point the installation program stops. This is a legal installation disk, and I have successfully used it on a desktop computer which has Windows XP as its primary operating system. Guest Additions are installed, and VirtualBox reads the CD/DVD drive fine. Any idea why this won't work in VirtualBox?

Copy the CD's as ISO's and mount them on the Guest with something like magicdisk.

Thanks for responding.
I did exactly as you suggested, even using MagicDisc. MagicDisc successfully loaded the image with no problems, but when I ran the installation file for WordPerfect, I got the exact same error message. It would not install. Believe me, this is NOT a problem with the original installation disc. I am 100 percent sure of that.
