I'm running VirtualBox 4.0.2 64-bit on Windows-7 Professional 64-bit. I have a Windows XP professional guest (32-bit, SP3 plus all latest patches). Audio in VirtualBox is configured for SoundBlaster-16.
I find that audio from applications in the guest plays fine but if a guest app exits sometimes the audio continues to play. Often, this audio 'overrun' turns into a cacophony of choppy noise which continues indefinitely. I also find that sometimes a low continual audio 'clicking' will start when the guest OS is running even when no sound related things have happenned in the guest.
I have no audio problems whatsoever when the guest OS is not running.
Any ideas on how to resolve this or at least troubleshoot it?
Thanks, Chris

Re: Sound problems with Windows XP Guest
Don't use the legacy SoundBlaster-16 audio.
