When I attempt to write out (im assuming this means save) a very simple nano C file. I get the error Error Writing (file name). Permission Denied. What do I do?

Not sure that this has anything to do with VirtualBox. Where are you trying to save the file?

I still don't see what this has to do with VirtualBox.
If you are new to Ubuntu and having permission problems perhaps you should ask them.

So you don't think that he permission problem is related to the fact thats running in a box

I don't see how. The only thing that it could be is if you were trying to save to a shared folder, but that still is the configuration of Ubuntu.

It WAS answered : the issue lied with Ubuntu - most likely the user tried to write where it had no security right to do so.
Nothing to do with Virtualbox.
