Is there any means to reduce too big vdi file size

Post by SGE »

Hi all,

I'm worried about huge file size of vdi files.
I have two vdi files in my VirtualBox folder. One in snapshots folder sizes more than 50 GB and the other in HardDisc folder is 18 GB. So the total is near 70 GB, while my guest OS Win XP uses only 25 GB hdd capacity.
I have only one snapshot.
So the total file size seems too big compared to the actual data size.
And the size is increasing day by day.
I'd like to know if there's any means to reduce file size.
Can anyone let me know how can I handle this issue?
Should I simply delete the only one snapshot?

Host: MAC OS 10.6.4
Guest: Win XP home SP3 (25 GB of 90 GB is used)
Virtual box version: 4.0.0

Thank you in advance :D
