Windows 7 Host + Windows 98SE Guest = :(

Hi

Having trouble getting windows 98 installed as a guest on a windows 7 64 bit host.

Im getting the quite common issue of 'ms dos extender out of range', Easy fix to this is to disable 'Enable VT-X/AMD-V'

However when this is disable I cannot run the 98 boot disk with cd support as the VM just freezes up and becomes non responsive, so this must be enabled but then I get the MS DOS error during the windows 98 install.

I have tried using various drives, I used my physical DVD drive and Daemon tools, when using both of these options there are no drives detected while loading with the boot disk with CD Support, So my only option there is to use the image I made and load it into Virtual box its self.

I have reduced the ram to 32mb as another poster on this forum said to do and it still doesn't want to Install.

I have tried changing between PIIX 3 PIIX 4 and ICH6 on the IDE controller to no effect.

My current computer specs are:
Intel Q6600
4GB of DDR2
Raid 0 HDD's
965P-DS3P motherboard
ATI 5870

Can anyone offer advice on what to try next?

Thanks :D

Hi

Thanks, turns out easiest way was to copy install CD to the C: drive then run the installer from there, thanks!
