I want to test an app's behaviour during transitions in and out of daylight savings time. I therefore want to be able to set the date and time of a Win XP VirtualBox VM, (preferably from the Control Panel applet, but from a batch file is fine) and not have it "corrected" to the host's time for me. I have turned of Internet sync in the guest and that seems to have achieved this, so I wrote a couple of batch files to set the date to a value just prior to the time of transition in and out of daylight savings time.
The VirtualBox guest doesn't seem to recognize the daylight savings changeover date - it just marches on past with no change of time, no message (yes - "Adjust clock for daylight savings" is enabled).
Any ideas?

Re: VirtualBox guest not recognizing daylight savings transition
XP has a daylight savings time setting, telling it which day to switch the clock on (it probably doesn't come from Virtualbox). Microsoft has put out a few daylight savings time updates, to account for changes in the laws as to when the clock is supposed to change. If this is a new install of XP in the VM, the day for the time change may not be updated. You might take a look at MS's website on how to find out how to update this.

Re: VirtualBox guest not recognizing daylight savings transition
Thanks, I'll look into that. Is there any way of inspecting the transition dates in XP (finding it by trial and error does not appeal!)

Re: VirtualBox guest not recognizing daylight savings transition
The time dispayed in the vm depends on the settings within the OS in the vm. It has nothing to do with the daylight saving settings in the host. The time sync between host and guest is in Universal time. The diplay inside each OS depends on the local settings.

Re: VirtualBox guest not recognizing daylight savings transition
I still get no action on the transitions between standard time and daylight time. Perhaps someone else might like to try the same thing?
Thanks
