Seems to be a problem with nested paging on AMD processors, see ticket 7938.

I am running a Apple MacBook Pro i7.
Exact same issue. Working fine on previous versions of Virtual Box. Did an upgrade to 4.0.2 and now i cant install/start 64bit Linux OS's?

VB 3.2.12 suggsests me to update to VB 4.0.4.
Will I run in danger not to be able to boot my Linux guest anymore, if I update?
How do I turn off nested paging?

I updated to VB 4.0.4 and everything seems to be working fine. Except for:

I followed the link VB provided me at the startup of 3.2.12... should I also install the extension pack? upon installaion of the extension pack (which I havent performed yet) it says that it would include USB 2.0 host controller devices, etc...
my current version is 4.0.4 r70112
does that release include the extension pack or no?

you need Extension Pack to get Support for USB 2.0 devices, VirtualBox RDP and PXE boot for Intel cards.

VB 4.04 does not recognize any connected USB devices, such as a connected external USB disk drive... (which is clearly identified by the host, and yes I have USB 2.0 on my laptop).
"I hope I will see the day when the software does what it should". No complaint. just frustration.

not sure if its a bug... I decided to reinstall VBox 4.04... and after a couple here and there error messages ("unable to mount location") my guest OS is able to recognize the external disk drive now!
There must have been an error during the first install.
I have tried mounting and unmounting it a couple times and the feature seems to be stable...
Well, sorry about the confustion but the reinstall really helped.
