Hi Folks,

I have a Windows 7 64 bit Host. I have installed a W2K3 Guest with originally 1GB. I have now increased it to 2GB without problem. I now want to allocate 2 CPUs to the Guest, but the Guest will not boot. IO APIC is enabled automatically when I try to select 2 CPUs.

The only one I have had is that you may have to set the 2 CPUs pre W2K3 install rather than after W2K3 has been installed?

I am used VBox 3.2.12

Any thoughts?

Updating the running single processor kernel in W2K3 to a multi-processor kernel is not advised by Microsoft. They suggest a clean install.
I have managed to get it to work maybe 1 out of 8 times. You can google this and find out how as this is a Windows issue and not in the scope of VirtualBox. The only thing that VirtualBox requires is that you have hardware enabled cpu and bios and that it is enabled.

There is utility called "HALu". Download it, run it in guest, and it will allow you to change to SMP.

To make your Windows computer recognize multiple processors,
choose "ACPI Multiprocessor PC" HAL.
