I've tried again. A few times
MacBook (white) 13" from about 3 years ago
2GB ram (upgraded from 1)
250GB HD (upgraded from 80)
Intel Core Duo (2 GHZ)
OS X 10.4.6
First I tried installing 2.0...got the 'There were errors installing the software. Please try again"
then I tried 3.0...same thing
4.0 is too advanced for my OS
So...after a bunch of frustration, and even more frustration searching for the remedy, I thought I'd start this thread.
BUT FIRST...I blanked the HD on the MacBook, did a fresh OS install, and tried virtualbox 2.0 again. And 3.0. Nothing.
Any ideas?

You may want to try using Software Update to update OS X to 10.4.11 from the 10.4.6 you're currently running.

Re: "There were errors installing the software"
figured it out
basically if you're running the older 10.4 OS versions, you need to upgrade with the 10.4.11 combo. Downloadable from Apple's site here...
