BSOD Ubuntu Guest on Windows XP Host
Posted: 5. Jan 2011, 21:50
This is fairly weird and very annoying. Has anybody run into this sort of thing before?
Occasionally when the mouse moves over a window control on a seamless-mode Ubuntu guest (close, minimize, etc.), the host system freezes for a second then drops into a Blue Screen. The Windows XP Pro host doesn't even write to the event log or dump file.
STOP 0x00000050 (0xE257A07B,0x00000000, 0xBF722574, 0x00000001)
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA in Tb2MirrorDll.dll
Troubleshooting:
* Two different host systems, last being an Intel i5 4-core
* Latest production versions of PUEL VirtualBox with Extension Pack and Ubuntu with Guest Additions
* Reinstalled Ubuntu fresh on a new VM
* Turned on/off all CPU virtual extensions
* Even tried the "Synthetic CPU" option
* Plenty of RAM available > 1GB Free, disk space > 300 GB Free
This event is rare and hard to reproduce, but when it happens it's a catastrophic failure of the whole system, making the guest unusable in practice. Any ideas?
