I'm moving to a new house with a blank slate for my Media Centers. I have an idea to build a new HTPC in which I run 4 Win7 virtual machines and a WHS. Then distribute to the appropriate rooms in the house and control with iPod touches. My plan is to have a really clean system, which is centrally distributed and done a cheaply (and reliably as possible). All I want in each room is a TV, which will double as the interface for ALL media in HD.
I first have to wire the house, so it will be some time before this comes about, but I was wondering if this may be possible. Seems like it might be cheaper than having 5 separate HTPCs or even running extenders. I really don't like the extenders since codecs can be a pain... This is when I though virtualization might be an option with the appropriate hardware in the host like: Extra video cards, sound cards, TV tuners, etc...
Is this possible? Any ideas? Has anyone ever attempted this with HD video?
Is Virtualizing Multiple guests and WHS server possible

Virtualizing Multiple guests -- possible.
What is "WHS server" ? Windows Home Server ? Theoretically yes, if it can run on normal PC, but this OS is so rare, that no one ever tried it. (assumption based on reading thousands of posts from this forum)
But you can't virtualize PCI TV tuners.
HD Video works fine on VirtualBox.

Re: Is Virtualizing Multiple guests and WHS server possible
Maybe one reason WHS seems to be obscure is that this forum's search algorithm is not recording hits for "WHS" A search for "WHS" is empty, which is obviously wrong as this post assures.
I am building a new WHS box and would like to know which approach is best, WHS running in a VM or using WHS as the host and then run VirtualBox. I've seen some information that indicates the second solution may require a second network card.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

I believe the problem is that internal search ignores works shorter than 4 characters. "home server" works.
