I started a new Ubuntu project with a hardware emergency, and I had to build a new Ubuntu platform in VirtualBox on my daughter's netbook (Win7 32bit).
The sound just plugged and played - I never even had to look at its settings.
Then I got a new notebook (Lenovo Win7 64-bit), and I exported the Ubuntu as an appliance and imported it.
Now the sound driver (in the Mixer popup) is "Dummy Output", and it doesn't make sound.
Version numbers & /etc/ cats available on request!

Re: "dummy output" sound driver
And what are the guest settings for audio (type of soundcard etc.)?
