Can't type backslash in ubuntu server edition 10.10

I've just installed ubuntu server edition 10.10.
I have installed postgresql and am doing some basic configuration for it now.

Now, for my postgres configuration I need the backslash character. I have an azerty keyboard so I access the backslash with alt gr + the backslash key.
This doesn't work.

How can I type special characters (characters that are accessible with Alt Gr)?

Thank you,
Mathew

And what layout have you configured for the Guest OS? That's very important, without the proper layout there, you will never get what you want. Not a VB problem.

I configured the Belgian Azerty keyboard layout.

Ok, but did you also tell it to work with AltGr?

I just found something on the net. Apparently I have to configure the third level keys for the keyboard somehow.
