OpenSUSE issues under 4.0.0

Post by vindicator »

I've encountered some issues and that first is the behaviour of the CD/DVD, specifically when using openSUSE-11-3.DVD-i586.iso.
When running "Check Installation Media", the process stops at random points at each attempt. The CD/DVD icon shows the activity stops.
What I've come to discover is that simply pressing "Enter" will cause the process to continue.
When this happens having it mounted as a SATA drive, the result will be that the DVD has an invalid checksum.
If you try it again in the same session you'll end up getting the message "Make sure that CD number 1 is in your drive". Remounting makes no difference.
When it's mounted as IDE, "No errors found".

I have found SATA to be problematic for every guest installation and OpenSUSE is no different. Installing it with the iso mounted as IDE and the hard drive as SATA came up with an error as well.

Network Adapter Type also matters. Intel Pro wouldn't work right. After configuring it, I could use the network, but once I would restart, no IP Address would be assigned and for some reason, HD audio would also fail on reboot. Not the case when using PCnet-FAST.
