Hi,
I was trying to install Ubuntu 10.10 (32bit) as guest with Windows 2008 Server as host in Virtual Box 4.0.0. Before installing VirtualBox Linux Guest Additions, my screen resolution was limited to 800x600, but after I install the Guest AddOns, I get a blank (blacked out) display in Ubuntu. It was working fine with VBox 3.2. Is this a known issue/bug in VBox 4.0 ? Any pointers will be highly appreciated.
Regards,
Saurav

If you installed the guest additions (in the guest)
Try disabling the 3D in the guest settings and see it it shows a screen.
Also it is recommended to install dkms as well as build-essential and linux-headers-generic in the guest before you install the guest additions (see the VirtualBox users manual)
One other thing that we need to know, what is the DM for the guest, IE: Gnome, KDE, Unity, Etc.
