I find this odd but I thought I would ask. I normally run VirtualBox using the Mac as a host. I have had various problems getting things like Compiz to work with some guests. And even the ones that work draw garbage on the screen until the desktop finishes loading. I have Windows 7 installed in bootcamp and just for the heck of it I installed VB 4.0 on that. Oddly I don't get garbage when a Compiz/3d guest loads and Ubuntu 11.04 with Unity actually draws and runs correctly in the W7 version but not the Mac version (well it "runs" but not correctly).
I guess my question would be, does this mean the Mac version isn't implemented correctly, or is there some other explanation of how they could behave so differently?

3D support relies on the host graphic subsystem/driver which is very different between Mac OS and Windows.

I suppose. so even though they are running on the same hardware. I think the ATI driver in the firmware for my iMac is fairly old and seems the Windows driver is much newer. Oh well, time for a new Mac.Martin wrote:3D support relies on the host graphic subsystem/driver which is very different between Mac OS and Windows.

welllll... first of all it's 3 years old. second, you can't update video drivers for iMacs. they are a firmware update so we're pretty much at Apple's mercy.Technologov wrote:Try to upgrade your video drivers on old Mac.
