VirtualBox 4.0 on Slackware 64-bit Host, XP and TurboTax

I installed VirtualBox 4.0 on a Slackware 64-bit system and have had a couple of problems.
First, XP would not start, complaining that there was not enough host memory available (it's a laptop, it has 4G RAM and 1024 M (or 1G) was allocated for XP. Cut that back from 1G to 896 M and XP would start.
Huh?
After getting it started, I started TurboTax 2010 and it failed (right quick, too) with Error Code 178033213 (who knows what the heck that means -- it's a TurboTax error code).
All righty then, install the extension pack and see if that helps. Nope.
OK, give up on 4.0, reinstall 3.2.12, XP starts OK (with 1G RAM assigned), TurboTax fails with the same error message (and I don't have the CD-ROM to re install TurboTax for about a week).
So, I can live without 4.0 for now but is there anything I can do about TurboTax (other than wait a week until I get back home and re install it)?
Best of the holidays to all.
