USB Not recognised inside VB

Post by aroonchand »

Hi,
I am using VB version 3.2.12 in Mac OS X Snowleopard with Windows XP inside VB.
When I insert the USB key, it is not recognised in Windows XP. On clicking the USB icon on the VB window, the USB Media is disabled..
Can someone helpme.

Thanks

Unmount the USB device in OSX, i.e. drag to the wastebin or click the eject icon in the finder. You also have to identify the device in the *Settings* for your VB guest. Hope it works for you.

Hello aroonchand,

I experienced a similar thing in VB v4.0.0 running WinXP Pro. I first downloaded and installed the Extension Pack. I then went to my pref's for USB and checked the option for USB2.0 support. Then, I noticed that I first had to eject the mounted USB disk in OSX, before the virtual machine told me a USB device got connected. So, it seems to me that OSX keeps the USB to itself while mounted and VB will only mount it when OSX has released it.

Unfortunately, I still have to find out how to get access to the USB drive...

I had no problem recognizing my Kingston USB pendrives with version 3.2.12, Mac OSX as host and Windows 7 as guest, until I updated to version 4.0.0. Now windows say that it cannot install the drives for this device!!! Anybody could help me?
