Multiple NICs

Post by MrBee »

Hi All, I hope someone here can point in the right direction, I have read the help files and am not really any closer to figuring out what I have to do here, I have 3 issues/Questions...

Background:
Host: Windows 7 Pro 64bit (4xCore CPU) is on Win 2008 R2 Domain with AD and Untangle Box as local router.
Guest: Ubuntu Server 64 Bit (1xCore CPU)

1 - I have Multiple NICs in my Workstation, 2 Wired (Dual Onboard) and 1 Wireless (PCIex1)...

What I want to do is (If Possible) dedicate one of the Wired NICs and/or possibly the Wireless NIC for using with VBOX VMs...Leaving 1 wired NIC for the sole use of the HOST...Everything of course works great in NAT but I cant select the NIC that I want to use, when I select Bridged, I can choose the adapter to use, but cant get to the 'outside' world...

2 - I would very much like to be able 'see' the IP address of the VM show up in the router logs, as part of the issue I have is that I need to be able to track/trace this VMs activity/network load.

3 - Which may of course already been answered by the above, is it possible to expose the Wireless the NIC to the VM for use, allowing the VM to use multiple network (As in the Wired will connect to the standard domain and the wireless will connect to a child domain?)

Any advice and guidance is most appreciated...

ps. If this topic has already been posted elsewhere, please accept my apologies and would some kind soul guide me to the post in question... :)

Have a (closer) look at the networking chapter of the manual. For your "wishes" you would need to configure bridged networking.

Hi Martin thanks for the reply, I had already tried the Bridged selection, as I mentioned, the issue was, not being able to get to the outside world, it turned out it was another issue. network and security related, so re-reading the chapter made no difference...

I got a friend who's a network type ;) to help me figure it out...all works great now so am happy :)

Thanks all...and hope you all have a great chrimbo...
