Trouble cloning VM

Post by wgshef »

Downloaded and installed VirtualBox 3.2.12r68302. Created VM:
Host: Vista Ultimate 64-bit
Guest: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

After I got everything up and running on the Guest, I cloned the HD using VBoxManager clonehd <source file><destination file> --remember. New vdi file successfully created.

In VirtualBox GUI, added new VM. Associated to cloned hd.

When start VM, I'm getting this error message:
failed to open image '<MyFileName>.vdi' for writing due to wrong permissions (VERR_VD_IMAGE_READ_ONLY).

Failed to attach driver below us! Image is read-only.
(VERR_VD_IMAGE_READ_ONLY).

After two attempts, I did start up the original VM.
Now, when starting the clone, it boots into the windows safe mode, and won't boot up.

So, what do you have to do to clone a VM and have it work properly?
