I had a Windows 7 Guest running happily, and sharing my Linux Host's home directory through shared folders.
I upgraded virtualbox to 3.2.12, when I next booted the Win7 guest it asked for an upgrade of the additions.
I did that, and now I have lost VBOXSVR from the network on the guest, including its shares.
I've tried reinstalling the guest additions, but no change.
I've removed and recreated the shared folder in virtualbox, no change.
I'm stuck as to how to even start debugging this, can anyone help?
I kind of need to access some data on my Linux home with a Windows app, so this is frustrating.

I found this:
http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/799
And it matches my situation exactly - even the workarounds work

- I can net use x: \\VBOXSVR\mikb in an administrator command window
- Disabling UAC in msconfig makes the problem go away
