CD is not recognized- cannot instal programs

Hello, I have used VB for some time for Ubuntu without problems. But, I just installed XP Pro 32bit as another guest OS, and it shows my CD/DVD drive in 'computer', but when I try to unstal any programs, it starts to run under the host machine. Can anyone tell me what the problem could be? thanks
