hi, everyone, first time here. never used virtualbox before! please can someone tell me on windows 7 64bit premuim, am i allowed to install virtualbox and a linux os, or do i need to have windows 7 64bit pro version. thanks for your help, sorry if this has already been asked.

You agree to a license when you download the PUEL version of virtualbox and install it. You don't need anything special to use the way you are stating.

hello, sorry, what i meant was does my windows license allow me to run another os on it threw virtualbox or do i need to purchase windows7 64 bit pro version or ultimate? because i thought that windows 7 premium , if you wanted to run windows xp it can only be used on windows 7 pro or higher?

As long as you have a Windows License (although mods feel free to correct me if I am wrong) you can install that regardless of host, i.e. xp (old) guest onto 7 (new) host, as well as 7 (guest) on xp (host).
There are no limits to what you can install, but there are certain OS's that are installed. In regards to MS Licensing it depends on your disk.

thank you, i have a full retail, bought copy from pcworld. not upgrade, full install, windows 7 premium, and i would link to install ubunto in virtualbox, thanks once again, never used virtualbox before looks like a execellent product. thanks

You don't need Microsoft's permission to run Linux (or any other non-MS software) on anything you like: including on top of Windows. If Microsoft tried to create such a license condition then it would rightly be seen as anti-competitive.
