[RFC] Multiple VMs with Screen output on single machine
Posted: 14. Dec 2010, 10:36
i want to port our demo environment on a single Linux Box [CentOS]
it consists of about 7 windows [win7/winXP] and 5 linux machines [CentOS/Ubuntu], each with their own display
there is no heavy workload on each of them, except maybe for one machine where a single threaded program is running, needing about 2GB of RAM
they should be capable of some simple 3D acceleration
i'm thinking of getting a 2x6Core with at least 24GB RAM stuffed with 2 Radeon 6000 series graphics cards [because of the possible 6 monitor connections and the 3D acceleration] and a PCI NVidia Card [because we have a special monitor which needs to be configured with a NVidia card]
and my questions are now:
- has anyone ever faced such a requirement and if yes are there any tips/hints/possible downfalls i should know about
- any recommendations for the hardware [more ram, other graphiccards, ...]
thanks in advance for your responses
