AutoCAD Installation Failed, Error 1603

Post by lemondreas »

Hey,
i use VBox OSE in Arch Linux, my guest OS is Windows 7 Professional.
HDD in the guest is a virtual disk in a mirrored ext4 raid partition.

Everything works fine except the installation of AutoCAD 3d 2010.
Here's the setup log :

Microsoft.com said, the 1603 error could result of an encryptet disk, but there is no encryption.
Also it says that the SYSTEM Account doesn't have enough rights to install. But i can't find any SYSTEM account in Win7.

Does anybody know sth. to help me in this issue?

What version of Win 7 Pro are you using, 32bit or 64bit? The reason I ask is that 32bit Autocad will not run on a 64bit OS.

The Host is Arch 64, the guest is Win7 32 and AutoCAD is also 32.

I never had Problems to install any application in this GuestOS, AutoCAD is the first wich shows any error.

AutoCAD is a little tricky to run under VirtualBox, but should install fine. I have had problems installing AutoCAD 2010 on a Windows machine before however, the solution at that time was to copy everything from the install disc to the desktop, and install from there, that might be worth trying.

If you get it installed, but it wont launch (either never gets past the splash screen, or shows an error about AutoCAD being incorrectly installed), try changing the 2D / 3D settings for the VM, both with Additions installed from normal windows (with and without 3D), and from safe mode (with and without 3D) - some combination of those things should let it work on most setups.
