I have successfully mounted my shared folders, but I don't understand how. The name that I referenced is not listed under /dev.
I am a linux newbie and wish to understand the mechanisms at work here.

Should they appear there? You only find 'physical' devices there. Ever seen a windows share there? iSCSI LUN? NFS server? I haven't. So why should SF be there?
