Age of Mythology mouse annoyances

Hello,
First of all, it's a miracle, I got Age of Mythology (AOMX) to work in my virtualbox. The virtual box runs WinXP inside of it. On the outside (on my actual computer), I'm running Archlinux. Thanks to the guest additions and enabling the Direct3D option, AOMX finally worked, with multiplayer and so on. (EDIT: I think this means it can be added to the supported 3D games list thread... I must add that initially AOMX started with a black screen all the time, and after a few later tries suddenly it worked, while I didn't actually change anything, maybe a reboot or so did it).
However, there is one final annoyance that I can't solve: the mouse pointer. Both with and without integration, there's a bug.
When playing AOMX, for me it's important that when the mouse pointer is at the side of the screen, the map of the game scrolls. Here's what happens in virtualbox:
-when enabling mouse integration, the scrolling works when the mouse is above or to the left of the vbox window, but now when at the bottom of the right. So I can't scroll the game map to the right or downwards with the mouse.
-when disabling mouse integration, then the scrolling works in all directions, BUT, then AOMX doesn't render the mouse cursor! Everything responds to the mouse, but menu buttons and such, selecting units, etc..., but I can't see the mouse pointer so I have to guess where I'm clicking! Of course this is unplayable.
So here my question: Are there any hidden options in virtualbox to tweak the mouse behaviour better? Options such as, how it behaves if the mouse pointer is outside of the vbox window, or e.g. an option to always draw a dummy mouse cursor on top of that what the windows inside of it draws (or doesn't draw in this case).
NOTE: while gaming I'd prefer to have mouse integration disabled (= make it so that it's impossible to drag the mouse outside the vbox window and only let the host key release the mouse), so I'd really love if there was a way to have AOMX draw the mouse cursor then or let vbox draw something at the cursor position instead...
Thanks!
