guest software interact with host software

hi all,
I would like to install open note X4 on my win xp guest OS, but I would him to interact with open office writer installed on the ubuntu host OS.
Does anyone knows how to do this? Open note is a bibliography softaware. If you use it on windows (or mac) he adds a menu to manage your bibliography directly in wirter or in word. I would like to do this on linux...but the problem is that the guest software should see the host software..
