Architecture of Real Motherboard

Hey all. I was just wondering if it mattered what architecture the real machine has if you are compiling a Linux kernel in Virtualbox.

no, just do lspci to see what the virtual machine has got

and with recent kernels, to only compile the running modules ...
(from make help)
