I am using Linux Ubuntu on my main machine. And I have another Linux in virtualbox. I need this Linux VM to be my server. But I can't make them even ping each other.

I configure bridged NET-adapter for virtualbox machine and make guest and host system the same gateway, mask.
For example, both in guest system and host system there is:
netmask: 255.255.255.0
gateway: 192.168.1.1
broadcast: 192.168.1.255
network 192.168.1.0

in guest system i type IP - 192.16.203.2, and in host - 192.16.203.3

And they can't ping each other?

Why does it happen?

May be because without any real cable inserted in my laptop - so main system 'thinks' that there is no network possible on system?

If you do not have a real connection and router you will need to switch to host-only to be able to get the two to communicate.

But if I want to connect my host with wire with another PC. (only with wire, without router).

How should I config network, that virtual system will be server both of 2 of real PCs?

Well you are going to need to learn a lot more about networking if you are going to go this route.
You would use Bridged mode and at the very least a network switch. (cross over cable will allow only one other PC)
Then you would be in a peer-to-peer network. Do you know how to set this up?

I have a switch, but I need only 2 PCs to connect.

I though it's easy to make such peer-to-peer network (just make the same gateway...) Isn't it?

Drop this peer-to-peer networking in google or your favorite search engine.

Normally peer-to-peer does not use a gateway just the IP address and subnet since they are in essence a direct connect.
