Windows 3.1 guest networking help
I have been successful loading windows 3.1 onto virtualbox using msdos 7.1 and windows 3.1. I cannot get networking to happen. I tried the guide listed in the forum but it didn't work. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Windows 3.1 guest networking help
I was able to fix it. I basically couldn't get the Amdpcnet driver to load. Windows couldn't find it. Took a lot of trial and error, but what I figured was that 3.1 might have had compatibility issues with that version of Dos, so I loaded 6.22. Then installed msclient. Then loaded amdpcnet driver. Win 3.1 was a major hassle from the standpoint of networking, but 3.11 was much easier. Was able to load the driver, and add tcpip2 protocol which actually worked well on autodetect. Next problem was a browser. I was able to load internet explorer 5.0 but only after I decreased the RAM of virtualbox to 16. I then tried to update the display to SVGA. There is a patch for the windows svga driver listed somewhere and it loaded, but gives you these wide big font windows. A much better driver, with no patch required, is the trio driver. I can find the link if anyone is interested.
I was able to duplicate this on Windows Virtual PC 2007, and there are actually fewer hassles with that system until loading the network driver. Amdpcnet doesn't work with virtual PC, you have to use an intel driver for that.
