Win98 guest only boots in safe mode

Win98 guest only boots in safe mode

it's a freshly installed win98 first edition in vbox 3.2.10 r66896, host machine is gentoo x86.

it shows the windows 98 startup screen, the resolution changes slightly and the screen goes black like it's about to work - and a second later the entire machine just shuts down without warning.

booting into safe mode works a-okay. I've fiddled with various options in vbox to no avail.

edit: the system "State" or whatever you'd call it says "aborted" after it shuts down like that.

changed processor to PIIx-3 and it works now.

didn't see that option before.. :-)
