VirtualBox + WinXP Pro + Polar IR USB = Headache

Hello,
On my IMac I have installed Win XP Pro SP3 Guest on Mac OS X 10.6.5 Host. My intention is to use a great Win sports software SportTracks in order to combine my GPS tracks from iBT747A+ GPS logger and heart rate log from Polar S610i monitor.
Everything else got done just fine instead of the Polar IR USB interface (IR USB reader). Basically this device does not get recognized by VirtualBox (nor Mac nor Win XP).
What options do I have if/when I do not get IR USB reader to work in my setup?
- iMac’s IR receiver?
- Polar IrDA USB adapter?
- 3rd party irDA adapter?
Has anyone been able to get heart rate data out of Polar monitor with a similar setup?
Any help you can give me will be highly appreciated!
