Windows 7 doesn't recognize NVIDIA graphics card

Post by elaine.lunsford »

Hi,

I would really appreciate your help with this:

Windows 7 (64 bit) isn't recognizing my NVIDIA Geforce 330M graphics card (32 bit). I'm hosting with a macbook pro i7 processor, OS 10.6.5.

I've tried installing many different drivers from the geforce website but they won't install because it can't find any hardware compatible. I've tried uninstalling and disabling the generic graphics card before installing the NVIDIA drivers. I've tried installing guest additions in normal and safe mode.. this only changed the video card from the standard VGA graphics adapter to the VirtualBox graphics adapter.

I thought maybe I have trouble because the card is 32 bit while the OS is 64 bit, but I haven't been able to find an answer to that question yet.

Thanks very much for any assistance.

You can't install native drivers on the guest. It must use the vboxvideo.
Install the guest additions (in the guest)

Thanks for your reply.

I installed the guest additions and extracted the files to C\Drivers for both 64 and 32 bit. Then I rebooted.

Now I try to run some software that requires the NVIDIA graphics card and it still won't work. Is there something else I need to do? Any other suggestions? Maybe I need to use Bootcamp or some other program instead?

Thanks again.
