Outlook Express - Gmail POP3 on guest

Post by Archdeacon »

(Host XP SP3; Guest Win2000) NAT adaper setup.
I want to configure Outlook Express on the Guest to connect to the Gmail Server using the standard SMTP(Outbound) and POP3(inbound).
The outbound connection should work, but how do I get the Server to find the guest? Is this a case of using Port Forwarding?

I can get that to work on the XP host, but how do I link port 465(outbound,SMTP) and port 995(inbound,POP3) to find the guest. I have read the manual but am not at all familiar with 'pipes' if that is what I need?

If the network adapter is set to NAT, then there is no need for linking. It goes right through.

EDIT: You just have to set it up on the guest.

I fail to see this question having anything to do with VB. You run the OS inside it, but that's it. When you're checking mail, your system creates the connection itself for which the server responds. If that fails, it would fail on a native system too. Check your OE config or get a real client, like Thunderbird.

Locked. Not a VB problem, but faulty config of the client/gmail account.
