Installing SLES 11 Guest

Post by mike-h30 »

I was just curious as to which Linux "version" should be selected in the Create New Virtual Machine interface to install SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 on Virtual Box? There is no option for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server. The closest is "OpenSUSE" or "Linux Other." Thanks.

to get a matching logo select "OpenSuse". Other than that only some initial settings for assigned RAM size and virtual HDD attachment (SATA vs. IDE) may be different, nothing to worry about

Thanks for the reply. I will give that a shot.

It is interesting though that Fusion 3 offers options for both SUSE Linux Enterprise Server and OpenSUSE. I wonder why Virtual Box only offers OpenSUSE as an option? Anyways, I prefer Virtual Box due to Fusion's inability to run VM's in the background.

... and what about SLED SuSE Linux Enterprise Desktop? :P

there would be no difference, its just the small SuSE picture representing the guest in the VBox GUI

That's it? I did not realize that was the case. I was worried SLES would not run in Virtual Box. Good to know the difference is just for an icon. I appreciate the responses. Thanks.
