Hi I am new here and I would like some help. I was just wondering could running virtualbox damage my computer? My host computer is Windows 7 home premium 64 bit. I am running Ubuntu 32 bit in virtual box. I am running virtualbox on my laptop. Could any damage happen to the bios when booting up the vm? Virtualbox runs fine on my laptop however is there anyway I can tell if my laptop is able to run virtualbox without problems or if I'm able to use it without a problem will it be fine? Sorry for the strange questions but I don't know much about vms.

Oh and I was confused about the question when registering what version of virtualbox do I use.

Also is there a correct way to shut down virtualbox? Should I just press shut down in Ubuntu or should I press ACPI shut down?

There is no way you can damage your machine on a hardware level, unless the CPU overheats due to bad power management, but that can happen without VMs too.

VB version is explained in the VirtualBox FAQ. Correct way to shut down is just shut down the Guest OS as you would on your native system.
