Maxium resolution is 640x480 and color depth is 4 bit. And icons on the desktop looks like Windows ME. Please tell me how can I solve this problems.

PS: sorry for my english, I'm from Russia :-)

Ah, now i understand. Guest Updates as you told are the Guest Additions.

OK. Try to choose another Monitor in the guest desktop settings. Like generic 1280x1024 SuperVGA.

Thanks for your reply. I install 1280x1024 SuperVGA monitor but there is no effect. The maximum resolution that I can select is 1152x864 and maximum color depth is 32 bit. But when I select any other value then 640x480 4bit, then monitor blinks and previous settings is restored (640x480x4).

OK I'm updating my post because I'm able to reproduce this issue 100%. It seems to be caused by using the SATA Controller with Nested Paging also enabled. I fixed this by disabling "Enable Nested Paging" in VirtualBox Settings > System > Acceleration. I don't know if its because nested paging doesn't like the Intel SATA drivers or what. Good luck to you.
